Mahim – Canossa Annexe

A new building was constructed close to Canossa School, Mahim for the primary school children as the numbers increased greatly. Nine Sisters formed a community here in 1976 and it was called Mahim - Annexe.

Special School: M. Josephine Trezzi had begun the Special School in 1967 attached to Canossa High School. It was the first for mentally impaired children in the diocese of Bombay. This school was shifted to Annexe in a special building. Through years of struggle it has done a great service to numerous children with its 26 teachers and helpers receiving government aid under the welfare department. Children have developed the 4 H’s namely the heart, head, hands and health while all realize how precious they are to God and people. The school also caters to eligible slow learners through the open national school. They have won laurels at the international level in sports and their cultural performance are delightful.

The Primary school with numerous children has six divisions. It is appreciated for its academic training, extracurricular activities, training in patriotism, tolerance, moral and spiritual values.

Sisters are active in the Small Christian Communities, teaching catechism, visiting the sick and needy. They also organize Gospel sharing classes. Three Sisters of this community have given praiseworthy service to St. Andrew’s College, Mumbai as Principals and professors.

The Social Centre of Canossa Mahim was shifted in 2015 to Annexe and remained there for 10 years till better facilities in Sacred Heart Canossa was provided in 2025. Much has been achieved through the social center here. Besides the many outreach Programmes and job orientation courses the apostolate among the migrants is noteworthy.

The K.G section of Canossa was shifted to Annexe. This Sisters here at Annexe are privileged to work among the little ones for of such is the kingdom of heaven.
