The Canossians in India were asked to look out for a spirituality center for all the three provinces of India for their spiritual and physical renewal. The place in Desur next to the Jesuit Novitiate seemed suitable as much land was available. The Jesuits agreed to sell us the land and soon preparations began. A building Gyan Niketan with three blocks was ready in the year 2000 and was blessed by the Bishop of Belgaum. Four Sisters made up the Community.
In September 2000 the 15 tertians five Canossian Provinces including Hong Kong and Africa began the preparation of their final vows here.
The heavenly abode of Desur with its enjoyable climate is a delightful place much suited for retreats and such Programmes. The only disadvantage is its distance from the Belgaum. There is scanty population hence no shops except forests and meadows.

Despite its distance the sisters have succeeded to have many groups of people conducting seminars, Programmes and retreats. Canossian retreats and seminars of Sisters of the North and South Province too avail of this place.
In 2019 the postulancy was commenced for North, South, Centre and South East Provinces.
There is hope that this far off village of Belgaum will get more populated so that it will be more convenient in every way.
